PLOT Twist!

The GOAL is the same.  We want to help mom to get better.  The plan has changed a bit since the last post.  So - last Thursday she went back to the Baylor Waxahachie Hospital because she fell at Legend Oaks. (ONLY 30 minutes after I left her side.....).

While back in the hospital she began to run fever once again.  So she has been being treated with antibiotics.  As they did that - they also sent out a blood culture to see where the infection was coming from (her second infection in a month).

On SUNDAY we got news that the blood cultures came back clean.  MOST LIKELY the infection is in her shunt that was put in her head 15 years ago to help her heal from the brain tumor.  At this point because she has been on WEEKS of antibiotics - testing her shunt for infection would not show us anything right now.   For that - we will reconnect with her brain surgeon and he will tell us what to do.  We WILL be in the hospital for 3 additional weeks so that we can fight the infection.  We are not currently a candidate for the rehabilitation center.

The MAIN thing holding her back right now is her kidneys.  When she came in the hospital they did a CAT scan and ran it with a dye.  Her kidneys were not running well anyway - and they seem to be working not as well as before because of the CAT scan.  Our NEXT thing MAY be dailysis.  This could be one time?? This could be for awhile?? This could be forever.  We don't know.  The doctors are watching Mom closely to monitor her numbers.  Dailysis was approved today and they will move forward as soon as they feel is best for Mom.

Today is the end of tax season.  Be KIND to your accountant.  Remember - if you don't OWE anything - the government doesn't NEED your tax return today.  IF you DO owe something - send in some money and everyone will be happy.  The final FINAL deadline is October 15th.  Remember.  EVERYONE in AMERICA gets their information mailed to them first of February and ALL the tax people have from February to April to file for the first round.  All accountants are doing their absolute BEST today.

AND - Heidi, my wonderful, beautiful, LITTLE sister has come in to town to help - especially with TODAY.  Which is the end of tax season.  She has been a trouper!  She has been gracious and kind.  She has had little sleep.  I will go help after work.

This getting better is a FAMILY event.  We are ALL working VERY hard to support each other!  EVEN my oldest child Rory came to the hospital and sat with Mom for a bit so that my sister could go and get some sleep.  I love that my CHILDREN even help out!  I am doing my best to teach my children that when family needs help - you GO.  You help!  I don't know if they have learned that YET - time will tell.  They are still little.  We will keep updating!  Thank you so much for praying for my mom!

NOT the end.....

Today would have marked 5 weeks since Mom's stroke.  During that time, Daddy, Heidi and I were beside Mom as much as we could be and it will still never feel like enough.   I could tell you all the odds that stacked up against her.  I could tell you about Daddy who just fought to hold onto her.  I could tell you the pain of Heidi who flew back to California with plans to see Mom Tuesday evening.         But.  All of that seems like not the right story.  So let me tell you of our last minutes with her.  Minutes are what matter - right?  I walked into her hospital room.  Daddy was by her side holding her hand.  He immediately jumped up and I got to hold Mom's hand.  She has been sleeping a lot in the last few days.  When I came in she was talking.  She was alert.  She wanted me to know these things -  "I love you SO SO much! In Jesus Name Amen."   She said this over and...

Hello, Again....

Hello.  It's me.... Amy Clark.   Once again I come to this place to write about my mom's journey of health. If you want to see what happened before check out:  https://debbiefromm.blogspot.com/   That first link has her story about her brain tumor (2009) and then meningitis (2013).  So what's happening now.....let me catch you up.  Some of her troubles started back in January where she started having trouble with her eye sight and itching/pain in her back. Blindness runs in the family, both her grandmother and mom had Macular Degeneration so we had her tested for this. We also looked into shingles for the itching and pain.    Last week - Mom had been ok.  I saw her everyday while I worked with Daddy on taxes.  We often went to lunch together and we talked all day long. Saturday night - the night before the unexpected trip to the hospital she and Daddy had gone to Costco and walked all around.  They ate out.  All was o...
